Academic clarity
Understand the numbers behind your progress.
GPA describes performance over a semester. CGPA brings multiple semesters together, weighted by the credits you attempted.
The credit-weighted foundation
GPA = total (course credits × grade points) ÷ total attempted credits
For a 3-credit course at 4.00 and a 2-credit course at 3.00, the GPA is (12 + 6) ÷ 5 = 3.60. A cumulative result uses the same principle across semesters—not a simple average of semester GPAs.
Grading scales, retake policies, and academic standing vary by institution. Always use your institution’s official regulations when interpreting a result.
